Why Bother?

After dropping some viral web hints earlier this week, Weezer confirmed a string of arena dates this fall in support of their recent "red" album. I worshiped this band from 1994 to about 2001, and a seventeen year-old version of myself would literally go bonkers over this news. Unfortunately, after considering the undeniable truth that Weezer's stage show tends to be a snoozer, and that the fact that the band's material has atrophied in the past decade, this one's a must miss for me. if you are so obliged, here is Weezer's itenerary:

Sep 23 Boston, MA Tsongas Arena
Sep 24 New York, NY Madison Square Garden
Sep 26 Atlantic City, NJ Borgata Casino
Sep 27 Philadelphia, PA Susquehanna Center
Sep 29 Detroit, MI The Palace of Auburn Hills
Sep 30 Toronto, ON Air Canada Center
Oct 2 Chicago, IL All State Arena
Oct 3 St. Paul, MN Xcel Arena
Oct 5 Denver, CO Broomfield
Oct 7 Salt Lake City, UT E Center
Oct 9 Portland OR Memorial Coliseum
Oct 10 Vancouver, BC GM Place
Oct 11 Seattle, WA Key Arena
Oct 13 San Jose, CA Events Center
Oct 14 Los Angeles, CA The Forum
Oct 17 San Diego, CA Cox Arena
Oct 18 Phoenix, AZ Arizona State Fair
Oct 20 Austin, TX Frank Erwin Center
Oct 21 Dallas, TX Nokia Theater
Oct 23 Houston, TX Reliant Arena
Oct 25 Atlanta, GA Gwinnett Arena

The good news for New Yorkers is that Tokyo Police Club will be the opening band for the MSG date. Tom Delonge's inferior new day job, Angels & Airwaves, will be spliting the bill with the Club.
